What the #$@! happened to meeting people?

*** Upon hearing the Schmidtster in Cowtown and Polly Pissypants up in Edmonton, I decided to find out about online dating. Schmitty said "It's a riot (Lavalife)...there are some whackos out there..." Hmmm. Polly said "I've been on it for 3 years (match.com) and NOTHING. You should see the losers..." Ouch.***

So, I went to both Lavalife and Match.com.
I figured I'll do a one month trial

compare the two sites,
see who is out there,

see if I can find somebody,
perhaps get to know her better,
see who finds me interesting,
perhaps they get to know me better...

and then those I think "thanks, but no thanks..."

and of course...those who think I should get should get bent...

It's easier than actually talking to the person, right?

She can't see you hiss at her 4 foot tall back-combed hair, right?

I can't hear her laugh about me, right? (I happen to like waffles...)

If we don't like somebody, that person will never know, right?

WROOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG!!!!

Here lies the rub, kiddies...

The same game is being played...
it's just being played on a different playground.
What happens when you find someone you really like?
He or she looks fantastic, great smile, sense of humour,
yadda yadda yaddda and you want to "meet" them?

You let them know by
"winking"
or
"flirting"
or
"smiling"
or whatever...
What's wrong with that, you ask??

the wait, that's what...

You've made the initial effort,
you "broke the ice", if you will,
and now you're stuck...
waiting,
wishing,
hoping
for a reply.

so what do you do, if there isn't one?

Maybe she's been away...

maybe his computer is down...

maybe she accidentally deleted her email...

maybe he doesn't check his email regularly...

Here's the problem...the chapter on "Software and Network problems"
is missing from the Book of Love...

That's a lot of variables to sort through
before you get around to realizing that

he or she is "just not that into you"...

mind you,
now it only takes a couple of
days to come to that conclusion...

which is a lot better than
in the days before online dating...
wouldn't you agree??

back then it took five minutes and you knew for sure...
